Originally the role I was hired on for the Windows Insider Program was specifically meant to focus on writing, which means that even as my role evolved into more of a content strategist and creator of all things content, writing was always a key part of my job.
I wrote many in-depth profiles of Insiders, which you’ll see in the following posts, but I also wrote about features, technologies, and fun and timely topics to drive engagement. On top of writing these though, I also built out the design, working with photography, video, and stock photo resources, to build a modern, interactive experience that felt in keeping with modern journalism and blogging standards.
As my role evolved, I came to own content and design across our platforms, which included newsletters, webcasts, and podcasts, as well as the website and social media posts before this.
For the podcast, I vetted and scheduled guests, crafted questions, and joined our host Jason Howard in the studio for recordings and light direction. From there, I went through rounds of listening to audio recordings and documenting edits for Microsoft’s studio to implement until we have a polished episode, and then I promoted those across our platforms. I was even a guest once, talking about all things content.
